NDAA: We Can Do Better: Child Abuse and Neglect Deaths in America

One of NDAA's partners, the Every Child Matters Education Fund, has just released the second edition of We Can Do Better: Child Abuse and Neglect Deaths in America. This compelling report estimates that more than 12,000 preventable child abuse deaths occurred between 2001 and 2008. Official estimates are 5 deaths per day, but the actual number of children who die from abuse or neglect may be as much as 50% higher.

Law and Order: SVU's Tamara Tunie, the official spokesperson for the National Coalition to End Child Abuse Deaths, created a YouTube video to raise awareness and call on Congress to act. Please urge members of Congress to make ending child abuse deaths a national priority by signing the petition. A national strategy for combating maltreatment deaths is imperative.

That is why NDAA and four other organizations have formed the National Coalition to End Child Abuse Deaths. The Coalition includes the Every Child Matters Education Fund, the National Association of Social Workers, the National Center for Child Death Review, and the National Children’s Alliance. Learn more about the Coalition's efforts here, or contact the Coalition directly by emailing endCAD@everychildmatters.org.
